Key Cutting from Code

I went to a local dealership with the removed passenger side lock which has the key code stamped on it. After some back and forth with a stubborn parts attendant I got a generic key cut to the code for $16

Security Indicator Light

If the new key code registration fails, code 2-1 is output by the security indicator light. 
Trying to re-register an already registered key causes code 2-2 to be output when the 
key is inserted. If the number of registered key codes exceeds the limit, code 2-3 is 
output by the security indicator light. The output details are shown below.  

Key Fob Programming

I will try a full reset like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQXgbSUQ0Yo to see if it will work out which is shorting pins 4 and 13 of the OBD interface.

I have yet to confirm this, trying to take notes. This process should work for a large number of models/years

The system should handle 4 remote fobs so you may need to clear the existing fobs first.

1. Doors closed, sitting in drivers seat
2. Open drivers door
3. Insert and remove key in ignition twice (5 seconds)
4. Close and Open Drivers door twice (40 seconds)
5. Insert and remove key from ignition once
6. Close and open drivers door twice
7. Insert key in ignition
8. Close drivers door
9. Turn key in ignition to on position and then to off
   • Once to add a single fob
   • Twice to add a fob and erase others
   • Three times to get count of fobs
   • Five times to erase all
10. Remove the key from ignition
11. The electronic locks should cycle to confirm status
    • The electronic locks should cycle 1, 2, or 5 times for mode
    • The electronic locks should cycle slowly the number of fobs if a count was requested
12. If programming a fob, press and hold the fob lock and unlock buttons for 1 and a half seconds
    1. Press and release either button within 3 seconds
13. The electronic locks should cycle
    • Once to confirm success
    • Twice to show failure
14. Program other fobs within 45 seconds
15. Open Drivers door to exit programming mode
