I managed to pickup a Model 52 Oak tool chest for $40 which compares to the model 2610 that sells for $2,295. I spent some time restoring it, replacing parts and such.
Restoration
- New keys $30
- New Mirror $16 (I might have picked the wrong place and this should have been cheaper)
- New handle, hand made by me
- New right cover hinge, made by me
- Replacement Domed head Split Rivets for handle by Terry's Toolboxes
- New felt with sizing applied
- Added rubber feet as is a common upgrade
- Glued loose veneer and joints
- Cleaned, removed water stains and refinished wood
Before
I did not take great before photos but I have some.
