Forced Use
A system that ignores common sense and forces a particular use can be described as having a "Dark Pattern".
Examples
- Android Location Services
- Prompts to turn on location services only offer two options, Not Now, and Yes.
- Mapping Software and Toll Roads
- Monthly resets of preferences cause directions to encourage toll road use.
- Subscription Cancellation
- Services that contact your bank to get new billing information after you cancel your debit card to stop billing.
- Walled Gardens
- Software or service documentation that can only be read after signing up for an account and logging in to a Discord channel.
