For better or worse the term Help Vampire is used to describe situations where public forums like mailing-lists are used to solicit for solutions to a person's task. Most of the time this is an effort to complete work for a paid job. From various vantage points this can be annoying or helpful

Annoying

  1. Asking about a well documented problem/solution where the answer is a like to the documentation.
  2. Asking for examples including specified usernames, settings or values.

Helpful

  1. Undocumented usage
  2. Discovering hard to find/search docs

Summary

It is easy to jump to frustration or anger when dealing with public support forums. If a copy/paste of the question into a search engine leads you to the correct docs then ignore the email/chat.
